Frequently Asked Questions

  • Online classes are held over ZOOM conference while offline classes take place in an actual classroom.

  • The answer to this question depends on the student, but there are some general rules that can help you decide which would be best.

    1. The age of the student: younger students usually have trouble paying attention. If this is the case, offline classes are advisable.

    2. Aim to improve public speaking: public speaking requires an audience and their is quite a difference between speaking to people over ZOOM and speaking to people in real life. If you want to improve public speaking skills, offline class is usually best.

    3. Personality: similar to the first point, sometimes the personality of the student will determine which class type is best for them. A student who craves social interaction and activity is going to thrive in a offline line setting. A student who is self motivated and focused will do well in an online classroom.

  • The general English class will cover a range of the major topics relevant to English studies including but not limited to the following: literature, reading skills, analysis, logic, creative and academic writing.

An alternative to the general English class is taking two classes each week: one for reading and the other writing. This gives students two hours of English studies each week, allowing them to go deeper.

  • Yes, I give homework every week.

  • This is a common concern and a very important one. Excessive homework can be counterproductive. Not only does it not necessarily translate into better grades and improve performance, it can cause unnecessary stress and be detrimental to the students learning and mental health.

My approach is to discuss the student’s needs with the student themselves and their guardian. If a student truly does have too much homework, we discuss what would be an appropriate level of homework for the student to complete. We would then tailor the amount of homework to the needs of the student.

  • Of course! Whether the student completes the homework, has a reduced amount of homework or doesn’t complete the homework at all, the classes give the students the opportunity to discuss concepts and learn new skills.

  • Yes, homework will be marked either in class so we can discuss our mistakes and learn from each other or I will send the student a marked copy during the week.

  • On registering for classes, students will be given an email address to send their homework to.
